Opening of COP29

COP29, the international conference on climate and climate change, opens today in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Drakonberg citizens do not participate in the delegate meetings, but this event is for Drakonberg citizens who are also citizens of Azerbaijan.

What is the meaning of this event? What is happening to the climate? What do our scientists think about climate and ecology? All of this will be briefly discussed below.

A detailed description of Drakonberg's climate can be found on our scientific website under "Geography". Its changes are not as strong as in the whole planet, but in general we feel the impact of the changes. And it is impossible to argue with the fact of climate change. But...

But our scientists strongly disagree that the climate on Earth is changing under the influence of human activity. Scientists believe that natural factors are much stronger than human influence. There have been different climatic periods on Earth over its multi-million year history, and there were no humans at all. Yes, these changes should be studied! This is what conferences and research should be devoted to.

In addition, human beings do have the strongest negative impact on the planet's ecology, polluting the earth and oceans with industrial waste and household garbage, especially plastic and toxic metals. The problem of utilization of all this waste should also be given attention.

Unfortunately, all these "climate conferences" are preoccupied with other problems: who and how much money will pay for the carbon footprint. But who to pay? Nature? No! To Western bankers and governments. For what? What's the point and what's the benefit for the environment?

Both real countries and micronations - we all live on the same planet. And we all have to protect it. What can micronations do? We can't build garbage recycling plants ourselves, and we can't even conduct scientific research in this sphere: we don't have enough resources. Yes, we sort garbage by types and deliver it separately, but we do not know what happens to it further. At the same time, the issue of separate utilization of household appliances, batteries, etc. has not been worked out at all. This is what COP29 and its analogs should be doing!

We call on other micronations to pay attention to the issue of environmental pollution. That is something that people can influence. But on climate change - alas, no. We can only adapt...
